Here is what the audience and the critics said:
"The show looks tremendous. The colours in Drew Facey’s elegant set—red wood, mushroom walls, hints of lavender—are coolly pleasing. And Jamie Nesbitt’s video design, in which family snapshots and children’s drawings multiply to form a dizzying montage, is spectacular." Georgia Straight - Oct 26, 2009
"Frédéric Blanchette has this extraordinary ability to create complex and realistic characters (...) A Play not to be missed, for its relevance and overall quality (...) Brilliant dialogues". La Presse.
"The actors did an extraordinary job". "I really loved the show." "If you want to know what the only professional, french theatre company in Vancouver is up to and fear not to understand, fear no more. Théâtre la Seizième has SURTITLES for this fantastic, elegant and meaningful production of Le Périmètre. Go see it you wont be disappointed!" (Audience members)
2007 Best original Text Award Masque Award.
Synopsis:
In this sharp comedy of modern manners, David and Catherine are negotiating the aftermath of their separation. This is an intimate, intense but funny play on relationships where the world is coming apart, where the past, which, is never brought up, weighs on the present...
Frédéric Blanchette's sense of rythm is reminiscent of David Mamet, David Ives and Harold Pinter. His ellipctic and therefore seemingly disconnected but brilliant structure adds to the soft abruptness of the language, characterized by a compelling use of silent pauses and a sense of broken communication between the two ex-lovers.
A Théâtre la Seizième production. Written by Frédéric Blanchette. English translation: Christopher Campbell. Directed by Craig Holzschuh. With: Lyne Barnabé, Fabrice Grover and Gilles Poulin-Denis. Lighting design : Jeremy Baxter. Set and costume design : Drew Facey. Props: Susan Miyagishima. Sound design : Danielle Hébert. Surtitres : Emma Luna Davis. Stage manager : Noa Anatot. Video: Jamie Nesbitt.
Show on tour in Saskatoon (Nov 12 & 13) and Edmonton (Nov 19-22).
